The Warwick Tab
The Tab network was originally founded at Cambridge University in 2009 as a grassroots reaction to out-of-touch student media, before rapidly expanding into a highly influential national digital network.
The Warwick branch of The Tab operates as a fast-paced digital newsroom focusing on highly topical, SEO-friendly campus news, entertainment features, and student lifestyle pieces. It empowers student journalists to break local stories, conduct live interviews, and hold university administrations accountable through factually rigorous, on-the-ground reporting designed for a fast-scrolling youth readership
My Experience at The Warwick Tab
During my second year of study at the University of Warwick, I successfully applied to become the News Editor for the Warwick branch of The Tab; a youth news and entertainment site responsible for delivering topical articles targeted towards younger readers.
As the News Editor, I was responsible for leading a team of student journalists in producing regular news content for the online publication. This involved pitching news pieces for the team of journalists to investigate, reviewing their submitted articles, and ensuring that they were both factually accurate and written to a high-standard before publishing. These responsibilities were carried out whilst investigating my own developing news stories, conducting interviews, and consistently producing my own news and features articles for the website.
This proved to be an invaluable experience for me, especially with regards to the knowledge I obtained in editing content for WordPress and making sure the articles written by The Warwick Tab’s journalists were informative, entertaining, and SEO-friendly.
