Naked Politics
Whilst contributing articles on politics and culture to the online magazine, Naked Politics, I was given the opportunity to pitch informative and entertaining opinion pieces to the editors, that covered a vast array of topics, including religious conflict, controversy in education, the war on drugs, and politics.
Founded by Banseka Kayembe originally as a post-university blog, Naked Politics has rapidly grown into a prominent media platform designed to engage and empower young people in democratic action.
The online magazine focuses on transparent, agenda-free political and cultural commentary, stripping away the impenetrable jargon that often alienates younger demographics from mainstream political discourse. It tackles a vast array of complex issues – such as systemic racism, feminism, the war on drugs, and education controversies – through a fresh, accessible, and highly entertaining lens.
Naked Politics is built on the understanding that Gen Z and Millennials are deeply invested in global issues but require platforms that speak directly to their experiences. By combining sharp satirical observation with rigorous factual reporting, the publication successfully fosters political literacy and encourages its readership to critically analyze the world around them.
My Experience at Naked Politics
Whilst contributing articles on politics and culture to the online magazine, Naked Politics, I was given the opportunity to pitch informative and entertaining opinion pieces to the editors, that covered a vast array of topics, including religious conflict, controversy in education, the war on drugs, and politics.
This required me to maintain regular contact with the magazine’s editors, and to respond quickly to feedback in order to ensure that my submitted articles were professionally edited and written to a high journalistic standard. I also continued to explore alternative and entertaining methods of engaging with the magazine’s readership, including pitching and subsequently writing articles designed to satirise modern culture and politics.
